In the manufacturing industry of electronic communication equipment, small flange parts are widely used. The traditional single-acting chuck is used for clamping and turning, which is not only inefficient, but also easy to damage the surface of parts. This paper optimizes the processing technology of flange parts by designing the lathe fixture, and improves the processing efficiency and quality of flange parts.

1. Asking questions

In the field of electronic communication, small-size flange-type parts are widely used. The structure of a flange part is shown in Figure 1.
The flange part is mainly composed of a square base and a rotary body with external circle, internal hole and external thread. Using ordinary machine tools, the conventional process is the blank material according to the size of the square base and the total height of the size milled into a rectangular body, and then in the rectangular body end center drill a hole slightly smaller than the smallest bore of the part (see Figure 2). The hole is positioned and the center of the center is used to turn all the external circles and external threads, and then a special structure of soft jaws is used to turn the internal holes of different sizes. With this method, not only the number of times the part is clamped, but also the external threads must be clamped when the part does not have a suitable clamped external circle, which can easily cause deformation of the external threads.

For the problem of many clamping times during the turning process, the external threads are easily damaged. Considering the optimization of the turning process, the lathe fixture is designed and made to finish the machining of all the external circles, external threads and internal holes respectively by switching the clamping method in one clamping.

2. Design and production of lathe fixture

According to the design plan, the lathe fixture shown in Fig. 3 is designed and produced. The clamping body is combined with the mandrel to process the external circle and external thread of the flange part, and the clamping body is combined with the gland to process the internal hole of the flange part.

3. The use of lathe fixture

În turning processing flange parts, the first clamping specific clamping in the three-jaw self-centering chuck to find the right, flange parts bottom surface in the clamping specific end face, side close to the anti-rotation pin, and then, the mandrel through the hole in the center of the flange parts blank into the hole in the center of the clamping specific (note: the hole in the center of the flange parts blank, the hole in the center of the clamping specific and the mandrel fit clearance in the range of 0.03mm, the mandrel into the center of the clamping specific The length of the hole is more than 20mm). The tailstock center holds the center hole on the end of the mandrel, clamps the flange part blank, and performs the external round and external thread turning of the flange part. The principle of use is shown in Figure 4.

After finishing the external circle and external thread of the flange parts, loosely hold the tailstock top, put on the gland, the gland is rotated on the clamping body until it is pressed against the upper plane of the base of the flange parts, then pull out the mandrel and carry out the inner hole processing of the flange parts. The principle of use is shown in Figure 5.

4. Use effect

Through the use of production confirmed that the fixture is not only easy to use, and production efficiency significantly improved, the operator’s labor intensity significantly reduced. At the same time, it has completely solved the problem of damaging the external thread during the turning process of flange parts.
