Iraq has invited bids from local and international companies for two new oil product tankers and another for chemical products, the Oil Ministry said last week.
The Basra-based Iraqi Oil Tankers Co. said the oil tankers must have a capacity of 7,000 to 10,000 tonnes each, while the chemical products must hold 15,000 tonnes.
Interested companies have until June 30 to submit their proposals, and firms with European, Japanese and Korean origins are preferable, the company said on its web site.
It added plans to buy two barges at 1,500 to 3,000 tonnes each and a 2-tonne cargo service boat with 20-tonne side tanks for diesel oil and fresh water that would accommodate 20 passengers.
The deadline for those bids is July 1, the report said.
