Hess Libya awards seismic contract to Norwegian firm

Oslo-based Scan Geophysical ASA (Scan) has been awarded a 2D seismic contract by Hess Libya Exploration Limited 4,000 km off Libya, the company has announced.
The operation is expected to commence soon with MV Geo Searcher, a high-capacity seismic 2D vessel to acquired the data.
“We are extremely pleased that Hess chose to award SCAN this important work" said Kjell Karlsson, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for SCAN.
He said the Geo Searcher is being mobilized from a previous work location off Pakistan where the vessel successfully completed a large 2D program for another super major oil company adding that Scan expects to begin the Hess work during the next few days.
Scan Geophysical ASA is an international seismic data acquisition company specializing in both marine streamer seismic and ocean bottom seismic. The company is currently operating one 2D and one 3D streamer vessel, and will very soon launch one 2002-built 3D vessel and three new-build state-of-the-art 10 streamer 3D vessels during 2008-09.
