Excellence in Energy Awards honour industry leaders

The Excellence in Energy Awards, under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, and Chairman of the Emirates Group, honoured outstanding business leaders from the energy sector at an exclusive ceremony at The Jumeirah Beach Hotel on March 6, 2008.
 Now in its seventh year, the reputable awards ceremony brought together more than 600 of the Gulf region’s most senior energy representatives, VIPs and dignitaries.
Winners of the prominent Excellence in Energy Awards were selected from over 300 nominations by a panel of independent experts who were specially selected for the judging.
One company was awarded for each of the ten given categories, with Adnoc taking centre stage and receiving the Overall Excellence Award for its outstanding achievements and business practices.
The Regional Energy Award was presented to Weatherford for its regional contributions to the industry and Masdar was awarded under the Best Company in Environment category.
“With the world’s attention continually focused on the energy sector in this region, it is essential the industry has an annual platform to recognise and reward companies for their significant contributions and achievements,” commented Eileen Michael, Director Reflex Publishing, founders of the Excellence in Energy Awards.
 Other prominent recipients included: Qalhat LNG, Best in Project Finance; Schlumberger, Best Company in Industry Technology; Saudi Aramco, Best Company in Exploration and Production; PDO, Best Company in Health and Safety; AlMansoori, Best Company in Business Practice; Qatargas 2, Project of the Year and Dolphin Energy, Best Company in Gas.
“The Excellence in Energy Awards have grown from strength to strength over the past seven years, reflecting the growth of the energy sector within this region,” commented Terry Willis, member of the judging panel and Managing Director, Energy Industry Council. “Moreover, the quality of this year’s entries demonstrates the excellence in business practices throughout the Gulf.”
Reflex Publishing is also the founder of the prestigious Oil Baron’s Ball. This glamorous, internationally recognised event takes place annually in Dubai and sees the crowning of the oil baron in front of more than 2,500 industry decision makers. |
