Iran Central Regions Oil Company (ICROC) and North Drilling Company (NDC) have signed a 10-year deal for chartering seven onshore drilling rigs, IRNA news agency reported.

The contract, worth Rls 883 billion a year, was signed by deputy managing director National Iranian Oil Company Mohammad-Javad Assemipour, saying that the 2,000 horse powered-drilling rigs are vital for country’s production in regard to the increase in prices of oil and gas.

“The seven rigs will not only ensure promotion of the national oil industry, but will also prepare the ground for flourishing of the private sector, engaged in the drilling industry, in ten years ahead,” he added.

Out of the chartered rigs, four are transported to the operation zones all over the country and chartering of the remaining three rigs is put on tender, added the official.

Assemipour said the contract value is gauged on annual basis and in proportion to inflation rate declared by the Central Bank of Iran.

“So, there might be changes every year in due expenditures and cost envisioned by the contract,” he added.

He also said Iran's high energy generation capacity has afforded the Iranian official a high bargaining power in the negotiation table.

Meanwhile, ICROC Managing Director, Ali-Reza Zeighami told the meeting that 303 million cubic meters of gas, 150,000 barrels of crude oil and 92,000 barrels of liquefied gases are produced in the company daily, Iran's state news agency said.

He added that in nine years, number of oil fields will rise to 67 from 24 and number of the energy rich provinces will increase to 11 from present 9 provinces.

According to the report, once a cash of seven billion dollars is financed by National Iranian Oil Company, the Central Regions Oil Company will be able to raise its crude output to 500,000 bpd and that of its gas to 390 million cubic meters a day by the next nine years.

He said that his company is ready for cooperation with all drilling companies.
