Studies are being made for the expansion of the UAE oil terminal in Fujairah, one of the world's largest bunkering centres, board of directors Vopak Horizon Fujairah has announced.
The terminal, with up to 1.2 million cbm and four to six additional berths sits on top of the ongoing expansion to 380,000 cbm, including two berths to be commissioned on January 2008.
The oil terminal will have a total capacity of 2.7 million cbm, 10-12 berths capable of handling vessels up to 175,000 dwt, enabling Vopak Horizon Fujairah to further improve its hub function in the Middle East for black and clean mineral oil products.
Hussain M. Sultan, ENOC’s Group Chief Executive, commented, “As the Energy Partner of Choice, we are proud to announce that our valued joint venture partners are continuing their growth, as shown by this significant expansion in Fujairah, now one of the world’s main bunker markets.”
Walter Moone, Managing Director of Vopak Horizon Fujairah, stated, “This major expansion further strengthens our position as a strategic hub in the Middle East, a very significant region. We are very pleased to continuously experience our customers’ trust and the good cooperation with our valued partners and local authorities.”
The expansion is planned for the north side of the terminal and its conceptual design has already started. |
