Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic) has confirmed that there has been no material effect on the supply of related products to the market, following a contained incident at the National Industrial Gas Company (GAS) plant in Al-Jubail , Saudi Arabia .

In a statement issued by the company, the incident which took place on August 6 th was caused due to a disruption in the production of oxygen. Revenue streams remain normal after the incident.

Oxygen is a key component in the production of ethylene glycol and ethylene oxide.

Repairs to the facility are already underway and are scheduled to be completed rapidly with production levels in the specific facility expected to be back to normal levels by the beginning of 2008.

“We are pleased that supply to end customers has been, and continues to be fully met,” said a spokesman in a statement.

Sabic supply chain management systems have been designed to ensure supply levels are maintained in the event of such incidents and that supply of products to the market is sustained and all commitments met.
