GAC Marine Logistics (GML), a UAE-based global provider of logistics services for ship spares and marine parts, has set up its first European office in Rotterdam as part of its ongoing expansion plans.
Managing Director Chris Steibelt says that Rotterdam is considered the logical base for GML’s growth across Europe due to its strategic position for both procurement and delivery of ship spares.
As the world’s largest port, Rotterdam’s diverse range of maritime activities such as towage, mooring, bunkering, dry docking, repair and maintenance as well as offshore support, creates a sustainable demand for specialised ship spares delivery services.
“Setting an operational base in the heart of Europe is the latest phase of our global expansion,” adds Steibelt. “Having a presence in Rotterdam will facilitate speedier response time and delivery of personalised services in coordinating ship spares movements. This new development promises to add to GML’s highly-reputed seamless door-to-deck delivery offering even better service for ships passing through the Middle East .”
The Rotterdam office is headed by Dirk Jan Koornneef who brings with him in-depth experience in the ship spares logistics industry. Koornneef’s primary responsibilities are to establish GML’s operational systems; oversee the coordination of regional activities; and promote the GML’s specialised ship spares solution to ship owners and management companies in Northern Europe . He will also work closely with other GML offices to enhance overall operational efficiency in the global supply chain.
Having established presence in Dubai , Singapore , Mumbai and Houston , the company is now looking at augmenting its global network in other key locations in Europe and Asia . |
