The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) has granted a license to the US-based PFC Energy, an advisory firm.
The Bahrain office of PFC Energy will be the firm's first presence in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region.
PFC Energy is an advisor to energy companies and governments across the globe. Founded in 1984, the firm has offices in Washington , Houston , Paris , London , Lausanne , Kuala Lumpur and Buenos Aires .
The firm provides analysis and forward-looking scenarios which provide the foundation for strategy development, investment evaluation and commercial decisions at the global and regional level. PFC Energy advises across the energy value chain through six main operating group teams focused on Country Strategies; Corporate Advisory; Downstream; Global Gas; Oil Markets; and Upstream.
"The CBB is delighted to welcome PFC Energy to Bahrain 's well-diversified international financial centre," said Ahmed Al Bassam, director, Licensing & Policy, at the CBB.
The broader Gulf region will continue to remain at centre stage of the global oil markets, with the demand for energy expected to stay strong for the first half of this century, he pointed out.
" Bahrain is an ideal regional host for PFC Energy," said Vahan Zanoyan, chairman of PFC Energy-Bahrain. "We are, therefore, very happy with the CBB's decision, and we look forward to a very productive presence in the region."
The licence for PFC is the second to be granted by the CBB in recent months to an international energy advisory firm.
