NPCC wins major Qatar contract

The National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) has won a contract from Maersk Oil Qatar , on what is slated as the biggest in NPCC's history.
The engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning (EPIC) offshore contract covers packages 17 and 18 of Block 5 in Al Shaheen Field in Qatar .
The project, which is instrumental in increasing Al Shaheen’s crude export to 525,000 barrels per day, is set for completion in December 2009.
Block 5 is operated by Maersk Oil Qatar under a production sharing agreement with Qatar Petroleum. The contract was signed in Doha last month. Last year NPCC won two EPIC contracts from Maersk Oil Qatar covering jackets, bridges and risers and offshore pipelines packages for Block 5.
The scope includes design, engineering, procurement, fabrication, onshore commissioning, load-out, sea-fastening, transportation to offshore location, offshore installation, hook-up and commissioning of facilities for 'G Location' and 'E Location' comprising of GA wellhead platform, GD process platform, GB flare platform, ED process platform, ED-EA bridge, and three interconnecting bridges. The work also includes tie-in of the new facilities to the existing facilities. |
