The 4th Middle East Artificial Lift Forum (MEALF) will be held on February 19-20, 2007 at the Shangri-La Barr Al-Jissah Resort & Spa in Muscat , with Omanexpo LLC serving as the official event manager.

The MEALF is a major gathering of oil industry professionals who are directly involved in the application of artificial lifting technologies in oil production. The objective of the forum is to promote dialogue among artificial lift users through the sharing of best practices, experiences, case histories, and new technologies that are suitable for the region.

"With the increasing use of artificial lift technologies in the Middle East , it is highly important for oil industry professionals to always keep themselves updated on the latest developments and technologies. It is also very important to build knowledge sharing, networking and expertise in the region to improve performance and oil recovery," said Nasser Ahmed Al Rawahy, chairman of the MEALF Technical Committee.

Al Rawahy pointed out that the two-day forum will be preceded on February 18 by a training workshop on Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESPs), Gas Lifting (GL), and Beam Pumps (BPs) systems and applications.

The forum itself will consist of discussion sessions focusing on a wide variety of topics including artificial lift selection; gas-lift optimization; ESP / PCP diagnosis, control and optimization; power supply quality & harmonics; contracting and handling difficult fluids (sand, gas, viscosity, high temperature etc).

The speakers at the forum will be made up of artificial lift experts from leading companies such as Petroleum Development Oman, Saudi Aramco, Kuwait Oil Company, Occidental of Oman, Yemen Nexen, Baker Hughes Centrilift US, Weatherford Canada/International (USA), Lufkin Egypt, Occidental Petroleum of Qatar, Zenith Oilfield Technology Ltd UK, MC BORETS, Russia, Total, and Schlumberger, among others.

In addition to the growing number of delegates for the event, many participants and sponsors have also signed up for the exhibition that will be held alongside the forum. Among those that have already expressed their support as sponsors for MEALF 2007 are Schlumberger, Centrilift, Weatherford Oil Tool Middle East, Wood Group, Al Khorayef Commercial Company, Kuwait Oil Company, and Lufkin Industries, Inc.

Al Rawahy stressed that the appointment of Omanexpo LLC as the event manager is in line with their objective to come up with a professionally managed event that would truly benefit the region's oil and gas industry.

"We are glad to contribute in any way we can to ensure the success of MEALF 2007 and to support the continued development of the oil and gas industry in the region," said C.J. Paul, general manager of Omanexpo LLC.
