Halliburton has closed a deal to sell the Irish Sea Pioneer, a self-elevating workover platform, to a BHP Billiton Petroleum Limited, for an undisclosed amount.

The sale of the vessel, which is currently located off the North Wales coast in the Irish Sea , will result in an estimated pre-tax gain of $8 million for Halliburton.

"This culminates Halliburton's sale of lift boats outside the US market,¡ said Cris

Gaut, Halliburton's chief financial officer.
