Geophysical Service Centre (GSC), a Middle East-based seismic contractor, has purchased a land seismic acquisition recording system and digital full-wave sensors from Input-Output.

Called System Four and VectorSeis respectively, GSC plans to initially use the system for multi-component seismic surveys in Jordan and later on throughout the broader Middle East region and into North Africa.

GSC will be the first contractor to purchase the VectorSeis System Four platform for dedicated use within the Middle East region.

Nour Al Tubor, General Manager of Geophysical Service Centre, said: "We bought a VectorSeis configuration of System Four because we believe full-wave technology will enable us to deliver step-change imaging improvements to our oil and gas company customers operating in the region.

“Furthermore, with only one sensor per station, VectorSeis single-point receivers will deliver significant efficiency improvements during field operations.”

"The near-surface conditions in this part of the world make it difficult to acquire high-resolution data. Input Output designed VectorSeis to help improve image resolution by recording the full seismic wavefield,” Ben Lovell, Middle East Regional Manager of Input-Output, added.

“It is encouraging to see GSC embrace full-wave technology for the Middle East as there has been significant interest from both the NOCs and international E&P companies that are operating within this resource-rich region.
