The 13th Arab Oil & Gas Show 2006 (OGS 2006), the Arab world’s premier event for petroleum industry professionals, investors, equipment and technology providers, will take place from September 9 to 11 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.

Supported by the UAE Ministry of Energy, the 13th edition of the annual event will showcase innovative technologies and services and provide an effective forum for discussing issues pertinent to the oil and gas sector in a region that accounts for nearly 60 per cent of the world’s proven oil reserves.

Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, International Conferences and Exhibitions, organisers of OGS said: “Record highs in oil prices coupled with escalating demand from rapidly growing economies such as China and India , have seen oil and gas producers across the Middle East pumping billions into major development projects in the sector. Advanced technologies and services are needed for exploring fresh reserves, extending the life of existing fields, exploiting non-conventional oil resources such as oil sands and heavy oil, adding refining and storage capacities, and for building manufacturing, transportation and distribution networks.”

The Show, which has seen the participation of over 3,500 companies from more than 35 countries since its inception, also acts as an effective interactive platform for networking and discussion among petroleum industry professionals from around the world on issues related to exploration, extraction, processing, storage, transportation and security in the oil and gas industry.

“ Dubai and the UAE are at the forefront of the explosive developmental activity unfolding across the Middle East . The Oil and Gas Show serves the regional industry by providing a hands-on inspection of the latest in technologies and services that can help to increase production and meet global demand for fuel at sustainable price levels,” Godinho added.

For the second consecutive year, the event will feature the Arab Instrumentation and Automation exhibition (AIA), that will run concurrently with OGS 2006, and will display state-of-the-art instrumentation, control and automation technologies related to the energy, engineering, construction, manufacturing and communications for industry buyers from the Middle East , the Mediterranean and the Indian subcontinent.

OGS 2005 incorporating the AIA exhibition segment saw 300 exhibitors from 35 countries mounting a comprehensive presentation of technology, services and equipment for over 7,800 specialist visitors drawn from the exploration, extraction, processing, storage, transportation, automation, instrumentation and control segments of the oil and gas industry. Additionally, the show also welcomed automation, instrumentation and control professionals from the fields of manufacturing, construction, communications and the public sector services providers.
