Dmg world media said it has acquired the rights to produce the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) one of the world’s largest oil and gas exhibitions with more than 1,200 companies represented.

ADIPEC will take place on November 5-8, 2006, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

His Excellency, Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan (Picture), Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company said: “We believe that this new business relationship with dmg world media reflects the strong position which Abu Dhabi holds as a modern, professional hub for international exhibitions and events. We are certain that dmg world media’s involvement will contribute to the rapid development of ADIPEC and will enhance the reputation of the exhibition and event industry in the region”.

“We are pleased to welcome ADIPEC, a well-established and respected name in its own right, to the dmg world media oil and gas portfolio,” says Mark Alcock, Deputy CEO, dmg world media. “We plan to capit alise on the obvious synergy between ADIPEC and our existing events – Gastech, the Global Petroleum Show and GO-EXPO – to better serve the oil and gas industry through a global exhibition and conference programme. We have also set our sights on building on the solid foundation of ADIPEC and creating the world’s largest oil and gas event in Abu Dhabi. ”

ADIPEC 2006 is the 12th edition of the event which was previously run by ADNEC, the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company. ADNEC is currently in the process of developing an ultra-modern exhibition centre that will feature 57,000 sq metres of hall space, a 21,000 sq metre concourse, as well as conference and banqueting facilities for 1,200 people. Construction is underway and the main facilities are on schedule to be completed and operational by ADIPEC 2008.

“Our plan is to increase the size of ADIPEC by 2008 to fill the new centre and then create a new gas event there in 2009 as we believe that Abu Dhabi is unquestionably the leading location for this event,” commented Alcock. “We are pleased to be one of the founding partners supporting the new exhibition centre in Abu Dhabi and our plan is to develop further events in other markets in Abu Dhabi.”

“In our opinion, dmg world media is one of the most successful exhibition and conference organisers and therefore the best international company to manage and develop this important sector in Abu Dhabi,” stated Simon Horgan, CEO of ADNEC. “This deal is a significant step in ADNEC’s plan to help its customers build their businesses in Abu Dhabi which is emerging as an independent new exhibition market in the Middle East. We are thrilled that dmg world media has also announced their intention to launch a new gas event in 2009.”
