Technip was warded by BP Zhuhai Chemical Company, a joint venture between BP and the Fu Hua Group, a services contract for the development of a new world-scale PTA (Purified Terephth alic Acid)* plant at their site in Guangdong Province, China. The contract, which covers the management of the development, will be executed by a team integrated with the client.
The new plant, with a capacity of 900,000 tonnes per year, will be the first to employ BP’s latest technology and is expected to come on stream at the end of 2007 to meet China’s growing demand for PTA.
Technip’s operations and engineering centre in Rome, Italy has responsibility to execute the contract, which falls within the framework of the on-going Alliance between BP and Technip in the PTA domain.
This contract comes after the front end engineering design contract completed by Technip in 2005 for the same plant.
