The Fifth Middle East Refining and Petrochemicals Conference and Exhibition (Middle East Petrotech 2006) ended on a buoyant note on 18 January.
The conference was attended by 4,990 downstream oil industry professionals from across the world, a 9 % increase from 2003. Of the total number of visitors and delegates, 2267 were drawn from Saudi Arabia, with significant support also coming from the U.A.E, Qatar, Kuwait and other neighbouring countries.
The exhibition attracted the participation of 139 companies from 21 countries world wide. Covering over 5,200 square metres of space, it featured showcase stands from local refining and petrochemical leaders, including Bapco, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, Qatar Petroleum, SABIC and Saudi Aramco.
Exhibiting alongside these giants were the internationally known names of Foster Wheeler, JGC Corporation, Shell and Yokogawa.
The conference featured 92 oral sessions and addressed the theme Technology for Tomorrow’s Generation. A total of 6 technical sessions covered topics related to the technology; management; equipment; safety, health and environment; manufacturing and economy of refining and petrochemicals.
The date for the next Petrotech is on 14 – 16 January 2008.
