Hydro said it has been awarded 14 new blocks, ten of which are operator, in the 198th licensing round in the Gulf of Mexico.
The blocks were awarded by the Minerals Management Service (MMS), a bureau in the US Department of the Interior, on 15 March.
Hydro will pay about $21 million for the blocks awarded with an average license share of 77 per cent. The acreage covers a total area of 317 square kilometres, and increases Hydro’s area of participation in the Gulf to approximately 9,390 square kilometres.
