Doha-based MZ & Partners was appointed the lead master planners and architects for Energy City Qatar, a multi-billion dollar investment by Gulf Energy.
Energy City Qatar will be developed within the recently unveiled $5 billion Lusail development north of Doha, which will be spread over 35 sq km comprising marinas, residential areas, commercial districts, leisure facilities including two golf courses and an entertainment district.
Its recently unveiled first phase involves an investment of $1.6 billion. Gulf Bahrain-based Finance House is the lead financial advisor for the project.
Esam Janahi, Gulf Energy and Energy City Qatar chairman said: “ Energy City Qatar would be a landmark project that will make an architectural statement of its own. The remit of MZ & Partners is to reflect the overall theme of energy in all aspects of the project development, making it distinctive with an identity of its own.”
The appointment of a Doha-based company, Janahi said, is in line with the strategy to encourage local companies to take part and benefit from the development of the project.
MZ & Partners general manager Marwan Zgheib said: “Our company would use energy-linked components of nature to develop this project. We will also ensure that energy consumption during the development will be minimal, in order to make Energy City Qatar a truly green development.”
