Rolls Wood Group wins first contract in the healthcare service

Aberdeen based Rolls Wood Group together with Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) was awarded a five year Comprehensive Maintenance Contract to support a combined heat and power project at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School in Dundee , Scotland.
The contract covers the provision of all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance with availability guarantee for a Rolls-Royce 501KB3 powered, Centrax packaged generator set located at Ninewells.
The generator set is owned and operated by SSE and provides a low-cost energy solution for meeting the hospital’s heat and electricity requirements.
Craig Banks, RWG’s Commercial Manager, said: “This is our first contract win in the healthcare service market place and we are delighted that Scottish and Southern Energy has demonstrated its confidence in our ability to support the plant, which plays a critical role at Ninewells. We are making it a priority to ensure we deliver an extremely high quality of service.”
Michael Baillie, SSE Operations Engineer, said: “Ninewells is an eight hundred bed major acute teaching hospital. As such, the gas turbine plays a very important role in providing environmentally friendly and cost-effective thermal and electrical energy to the hospital. Rolls Wood Group is a local company and has won the contract on the basis of a competitive tender. They have already demonstrated an ability to react quickly and to manage the plant, underpinning their understanding of the importance of the engine to the site. We look forward to working with Rolls Wood Group in providing and maintaining a critical service to the hospital.”
