Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has discovered oil in four fields with reserves of tens of millions of barrels, according to published reports.
"These four finds whose reserves can be assessed at tens of millions of barrels ... would boost mid-term output levels," Oman's official news agency quoted PDO managing director John Malcolm as saying.
The agency named the fields as the northern Ufuq and Dafiq, located near the Lekhwair oil field as well as Sakhiya-Southwest and Mamour in the south.
According to reports, PDO has said it expects to produce between 580,000 and 600,000 barrels per day in the next three years. It pumped 657,000 bpd in 2004.
