Team Oman awarded major international cable contract

Nico World, a subsidiary of Dubai-based Topaz Energy and Marine Ltd has been awarded a major contract by leading Australian oil and gas contractor Clough Engineering Ltd. for its cable-lay vessel ‘Team Oman'.
The contract involves the transportation and installation of sub-sea umbilicals in the Krishna Godavari Basin , off India ’s east coast. The ‘Team Oman ’ is one of only three of its kind in the world. It is a specialised power-cable lay vessel with a capacity for carrying and installing up to 4,000 tonnes of power cables and one of a very limited number of vessels worldwide that is capable of executing the Clough project.
Initially the ‘Team Oman ’ will mobilise to the UK , where it will be loaded with the cables before setting sail for India to commence the cable laying operations. The project is expected to extend beyond the first quarter of 2006.
Topaz Energy and Marine Ltd. is one of the top ten offshore vessel owners and operators worldwide, with operations in the Middle East , Caspian and South East Asia .
