RasGas, the Qatar-based liquefied natural gas producer has recently launched four innovative initiatives under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

First on the list is its Pay Forward scheme where beneficiaries of RasGas’ sponsorships are encouraged not to payback but pay it forward to a third party.

“This programme will increase the flow of benefit. One example of this is the agreement RasGas had with the local football teams in Qatar. As part of the sponsorship package, the football team agrees to spend time teaching football to children with special needs,” the company said.

The Employee Volunteer Scheme will allow employees to provide time within their working calendar to work within one of RasGas charity associations.

Through the Skills Transfer Programme, the company is giving non-profit organisations the opportunity to learn from Rasgas’ technical know how. This includes the LNG business, its environmental benefits and mechanisms on how to set up basic systems to manage a non-profit oranisation.

Finally, the company has also launched the RasGas roundtable. Under this programme, RasGas will facilitate discussions and debate on a variety of issues, initially relating to the LNG industry.
