United Arab Emirates Oil Minister Mohammed bin Daen Al Hamili (pictured) said the UAE has launched projects to expand output capacity by more than 200,000 bpd in the next few months.
Speaking at the Gulf Oil and Gas: Ensuring Economic Security conference in Abu Dhabi , he said more than 100,000 bpd would be added by the fourth quarter of this year while an additional 100,000 bpd would be installed in the first quarter of 2006.
“Most of the projects cover onshore fields,” he added. “Our current sustainable capacity is estimated at around 2.48 million bpd and those projects will boost it to nearly 2.7 million bpd. The UAE will expand capacity further when the market needs more oil.”
