Mubadala Development Company, the wholly owned investment and development vehicle of the government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, confirmed that the Government of Sultanate of Oman has selected Mubadala Development, consortium leader Suez Energy International and National Trading Company of Oman to build a new power and desalination plant to be installed at Barka, as well as acquire Al-Rusail Power Company, an existing power plant.

Invensys Process Systems has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract to provide distributed control systems (DCS), safety systems and fire & gas systems for the Yemen LNG Company Ltd. plant being built at Balhaf, on Yemen 's south coast. The new $2+ billion grassroots plant is the first LNG plant in Yemen , and the Foxboro implementation will be the first major DCS in Yemen.

Qatar Shell GTL Limited has awarded the design-build contract for the Pearl GTL complex effluent treatment plant to a consortium formed from a 50-50 joint venture between Veolia Water; and Saipem and a local construction company, Al Jaber.

:: Veritas DGC receives IRS letter on CGG mergerramco’s operating plan approved for 2007

Veritas DGC has received the requested United States Internal Revenue Service private letter ruling in connection with the previously announced merger agreement whereby Compagnie Generale de Geophysique ("CGG") will acquire Veritas. The IRS ruled that the exchange of Veritas common stock for CGG ADSs or CGG ADSs and cash will qualify for an exception to Section 367(a)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Gastech 2006, the 22 nd International Exhibition and Conference for the LNG, LPG and Natural Gas Industries, held in Abu Dhabi, proved to be a true record breaker, with a total attendance 6409, from 66 countries (subject to independent verification). The total attendance in Bilbao at Gastech 2005 was approx 5400 ? attendance at this year’s event thus saw an increase of approximately a thousand individuals from the global industry.
